Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyFri Jun 26, 2015 12:21 am

In the dark, damp cells of the pit a voice was counting in a sing-song tone, the voice light and girly. "Six, Twelve, Eighteen, Twenty-four, Thirty, Thir--"

"Shut up, child." replied a large man, the girl was rather attached to him, but he wasn't to her. Most cell-mates end up as your opponent in the pit after two years, anyway.

"Oh, but Akeno! I really do enjoy counting by six. It's fun!"

"Yeah, but you can never get past ninety, and so you end up restarting." he replied, his tone gruff and slightly annoyed, maybe with a bit of amusement.

"Well, if you'd teach me, I'd get better, now wouldn't I?"

"Ugh, you're all scum." replied another voice, the smell of a human entering the nostrils of all in the cells.

"Surprised you'd let a human run this place, Dominus." said yet another, though light and warm, voice with a laugh as the cell door opens, his eyes catching onto the girl within. He looked at her kakugan, smiled, and gave a wink. "Pretty eyes."

"Enough flirting!" the human said, pushing him inside. He then turned his head to the counting behind him. "Akeno, control that thing!" he said, and suddenly Dominus's hand was in the air, her hands crushing a kagune that it held. The activity was too fast to figure out what kind of kagune it was, and as the door closed the man ran forward.

"Wait wait wait! Dominus, I have a proposal." he says, licking his dry lips. "Listen to me."

The door stopped at just a crack, opening slightly so that Dominus could look in.

Her mask hidden in shadow.

"Listen... How about I make a bet myself on the next game, a huge bet. Before I say what the bet is, I tell you the terms."

He looks at the girl in the room.

"Me and her, and the two in that room across from us, fight together as a team against whatever you want to throw at us, may it be another group of ghouls, hundreds of ghouls, or even yourself."

She nodded for him to continue.

"If any of us four die, then our lives are forfeit, and I also tell you where you can find a large amount of ghouls that are planning to overthrow you. If we win, we four leave this place, free."

The human scowled, ready to close the door, but Dominus breathed out in a sigh, nodding as the door closed.

The man turned.

Wide smile.

"Hello! My name is Daichi-ko! What is yours?"

"What does that word mean? Free?" asked the child suspiciously from the other room.

There was no reply.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyFri Jun 26, 2015 1:49 am

Kie lay on the cool floor of her cell, limbs outstretched as she stared blankly into the dark. She looked as though she was about to fall asleep, and she would have already if it hadn't been for the girl whose innocent voice tormented her thoughts with memories and visions of what was to come. "Six, Twelve, Eighteen, Twenty-four, Thirty, Thir--"

"Shut up, child." Came the response that was common as of late. She waited, eyes and body still.

"Oh, but Akeno! I really do enjoy counting by six. It's fun!"

"Yeah, but you can never get past ninety, and so you end up restarting." Something in his tone. Her eyebrows barely furrowed before they returned to their normal placement. You were doing so well, Akeno.

"Well, if you'd teach me, I'd get better, now wouldn't I?" Kie sighed, wishing that she was deaf or that at least they'd shut up. She silently placed her hands over her ears and closed her eyes. It was time to turn her mind to other things. She was getting hungry. There...

Was the smell of a human. Kie's eyes flew open as she spun around onto her hands and knees before slowly rolling back into a crouching position on her toes. Her eyes squinted at the door as it opened.

Her eyes widened in surprise and dismay. A boy, a little older than she. A guess. Dread filled her stomach as their eyes met. No, not again... He smiled and winked at her. "Pretty eyes." Kie's mouth opened slightly in response, feelings conflicting within her. A cellmate. A possible friend. No, no! His voice was kind, his words compliments. She had a cellmate like this.

Once.

Don't interact with him.

"Enough flirting!" The human shouted before pushing the boy into the cell. Kie fell onto her bottom, her back now resting against the wall, her expression still blank but her jaw taut. No... "Akeno, control that thing!" A fleshy sound that probably would've made any other person not used to it cringe. The door slowly began to shut and she prepared to be pulled into a conversation.

However, the boy ran back to the door. The words that came out of his mouth filled her with an uneasy feeling. "Wait wait wait! Dominus, I have a proposal." He said. "Listen to me." The door stopped. "Listen... How about I make a bet myself on the next game, a huge bet. Before I say what the bet is, I tell you the terms."

The feelings intensified when he glanced back at her for a second. "Me and her, and the two in that room across from us, fight together as a team against whatever you want to throw at us, may it be another group of ghouls, hundreds of ghouls, or even yourself."

Kie's expression was instantly full of rage. Out of all cells, he chose to include the one with the child? In a battle greater than the ones she was used to? The battles that a kid her age could handle? Her thoughts stopped short and her face suddenly changed into something that resembled horror, though nobody noticed, for the conversation was still going on.

I got attached.

She had been doing so well.

"If any of us four die, then our lives are forfeit, and I also tell you where you can find a large amount of ghouls that are planning to overthrow you. If we win, we four leave this place, free."

Freedom or death. Give the enemy, the dictator, free reign of the battle that determined the outcome. Which outcome would the enemy ensure was fulfilled? What would Dominus throw at them?

The door closed.

"...idiot..." Kie murmured, her red lips tight with anger. He didn't seem to hear.

"Hello! My name is Daichi-ko! What is yours?" said the boy.

She eyed him, eyebrows lowered and eyes carrying their typical stoic gaze despite what she was feeling. She didn't want to know his name. She wouldn't give him hers. She looked away, her eyes deciding to rest on the floor.

"What does that word mean? Free?" The girl asked.

The word wasn't that familiar to Kie, either, though she had learned to grasp the subject through the talk she heard from... great people... throughout her seventeen long years of slavery. The fact the girl hadn't learned it yet hit a chord with her that...

She shook her head.

They were in for it now. There was only good reason to be pessimistic. She wanted the little girl to experience freedom. Heck, she wanted to experience it. Like she wanted her to. He and Akeno likely already knew it, but she was sure they were missing it. They would all die, though, in the pit that the boy doomed them to. Even the little girl. Those who didn't deserve it. Give the leader control... idiotidiotidiot

She slammed her pale, bony fist lightly against the damp floor, but stayed silent, eyes locked on the floor.

She had tried very hard.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyFri Jun 26, 2015 2:17 am

Daichi-ko heard what the girl said, and his face broke its usual happiness at the words he heard. He had forgotten what it was like to be down here. With watchful eyes on the girl in front of him, he thought of what would be thrown at them. Dominus, as a person, was known for being fair, but a bet this big would give Dominus a reason to tilt the scale. What he needed to know was the prowess of everybody he was bringing into battle.

"Well, if you won't tell me your name, can I at least know what rank you are classified around here? Akeno, could I also know what you two are?"

Akeno grunted, his unwillingness to comply evident. The little girl, however, chimed in quickly without hesitation.

"Oh! I've only fought once before, and it was a practice match, but I was ranked as an A!" she said with a cheerful coo. "They said something about my... Uhm." There was a muttering as she tried to think back on it, but Akeno cut her thoughts off.

"She'll be fighting without a Kagune. I'm a B rank." he said gruffly. Daichi-ko was still looking at the girl in his cell. He walked over and held out his hand, a smile lightly on his face.

"A girl as pretty as you shouldn't be so upset. Don't worry about the other two, they can hold their ground. Especially Akeno." he spoke lightly. He used to know Akeno, but Akeno never knew his real name.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyFri Jun 26, 2015 3:14 am

"Well, if you won't tell me your name, can I at least know what rank you are classified around here? Akeno, could I also know what you two are?" She heard the boy ask. He stayed turned towards her, which awoke something in her she hadn't felt in a while. Shyness. She kept her heated gaze on the floor.

"Oh! I've only fought once before, and it was a practice match, but I was ranked as an A!" The girl said happily from her cell. Kie's eyebrow twitched. How is she higher than me? "They said something about my... Uhm." Her sentence remained unfinished as Akeno cut in.

"She'll be fighting without a Kagune. I'm a B rank." Without a kagune? Kie realized she hadn't really taken the time to learn how they fought or what their ranks were. After all, she had been trying not to form bonds or interest.

She felt lowly. She had a dual kagune but she was still weaker than them. Why?

Hopefully I won't be the one to doom them all.

Suddenly she saw that Daichiko was walking towards her. Panic filled her chest. When his feet stopped fairly close to her, her eyes reluctantly fluttered upwards. He was smiling, a hand outstretched.

"A girl as pretty as you shouldn't be so upset. Don't worry about the other two, they can hold their ground. Especially Akeno." He said lightly. Despite her anger, despite her reluctance... she felt heat travel to her face at the compliment.

Her eyes shot between his and his hand. She took in a jagged breath.

His risky deal made it so that this would be the last time she could form relationships and the first time she could keep those relationships... if they won. If they lost, they would die anyways...

Kie wanted to be his friend. To be the little girl's friend. To be Akeno's friend. She heard that one thing you give your friends is trust. She would trust that they could handle themselves. She would trust that this stranger knew what he was doing and that he wasn't leading them into a deathtrap.

She'd forget the friends she killed or watched die. The children and the mature who weren't made for this world.

Just this once, she'd forget about them.

This torturous life was about to come to an end, one way or another. She'd be leaving her old friends behind. The last possible group of friends she could have were in front of her. It wasn't like she'd have to fight them, like she had to with...

They had wanted her free.

A deep breath.

She'd take them as her friends. Acquaintances. This boy spoke of the freedom she had always wanted. He was her way out.

Her kakuganic eyes locked with his and one side of her mouth lifted slightly. An attempt at a smile. It felt awkward, trying to be positive and friendly. She lifted her thin hand up and sort of left it in the air beside his, unsure what he was trying to do. The awkwardness she felt actually translated to her face, the neutral countenance she had kept for a countless months quickly shifting into weak expressions.

"C." Kie replied, her voice tired and crackly. She rarely spoke above a whisper and it showed. "You?"

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyFri Jun 26, 2015 3:35 am

Daichi grabbed her hand and pulled her up to her feet with ease, ready to catch her if she were about to fall. He hadn't answered yet, it was almost as though he were thinking of what he should say. After a couple of seconds of hesitation, he replied in a low voice.

"I was given a ranking of F whenever I first fought in the pit." he said. He then continued while tilting his neck and cracking it. "I'd say I've gotten better, but I'm probably the weakest in the group." Suddenly, there was a knocking at the door. Cue that it was time to fight. "Dominus seems to have gotten quicker acting. Used to take a couple of days to make a decision."

The door opened, and he walked without following the usual tradition of hands behind head. The Ghoul that opened the door glared at him and went to smack him, but stopped at the sight of something outside of Kie's view. The door across was open too, and a behemoth of a man, dark in skin with a large amount of muscle and bulk. His eyes were a dark green, and his brows were furrowed as he sized up the other two in front of him. His clothing was identical to Daichi's, except larger and only a monotone grey. The head of a little girl poked out, compared to the man that looked about seven feet in height, she couldn't have been more than three and a half feet tall. Her skin incredibly pale and light, her eyes were a beautiful green and her hair long and brown. She looked just barely underweight. Her clothing was a colorful dress with a length of just below her knees, her feet having socks.

"Ready, Akeno?" he asked with a smile. Akeno's face lit up with light realization before returning to normal. He looked angry now, but he looked away and kept silent, Daichi turning and directly facing Dominus. Dominus turned and began to lead them to the pit. Customary tradition whenever Dominus visited. Dominus escorted them in order to see how they would act. The little girl cheerfully skipped over to her and started to pull on Dominus's cloak, a shrug of the shoulders as Dominus looked down, almost as though the figure beneath it were laughing.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyFri Jun 26, 2015 7:14 pm

Daichiko grabbed onto her hand and pulled her up with such ease and speed that Kie barely secured her feet beneath her by the time she was upright and he had loosened his grip. She let out a hah of surprise as she gained her balance and worked away the soreness that countless hours on the hard floor had given her. Her expression reverted back to the one that mocked boredom, despite the adrenaline and excitement that surged through her and her efforts to appear more friendly.

"I was given a ranking of F whenever I first fought in the pit." He replied. First? The way he said it made it seem like there was a break in between. That was probably not the case, though, right? She watched as he cracked his neck. "I'd say I've gotten better, but I'm probably the weakest in the group."

She couldn't help but narrow her eyes a little. He was the weakest, but the one that brought them all into it. Would he be able to carry his weight?

Or would he have to?

He had promised Dominus that he would tell her information if something happened to anyone on his team. That meant that Dominus probably would advise whatever she was going to attack them with to not target him. If he died, so would the information. That could mean all kinds of things for her, Akeno, and the little girl. More danger. Had he done that on purpose?

Trust, trust. Kie averted her gaze to the door, guilty over her suspicion. There was suddenly a knock, which meant that the battle had come quicker than she expected. Much quicker. Her eyes widened. "Already?" She said, her tone alarmed. A heavy feeling falling over her. I didn't get a chance to befriend them. They don't even know my name. She thought with dismay. She quickly shook away the feelings. It'd be dumb to make friends with them at the moment... We just need to fight for now. That's all I should be worrying about.

"Dominus seems to have gotten quicker acting. Used to take a couple of days to make a decision." said Daichiko. She gave a slight nod. He had done this before?

The door opened and he exited the cell, not following the hands-behind-hand tradition. She winced, knowing the punishment that would come. The ghoul who had opened the door raised his hand, but it abruptly dropped. Kie raised a brow before placing her hands behind her head and following Daichiko out of the cell. The door to another cell was open too and she saw Akeno and the little girl for the first time. She took them in with her black-and-red gaze.

Akeno was large and dark, the girl pale and very small. They were very much opposites. It was quite a group they had, and probably quite the battle they had ahead of them. Nervousness was making her stomach burn, but she kept her composure and prepared herself for battle. She closed her eyes.

"Ready, Akeno?" She heard Daichiko say. They seem to be friends already. There was no reply.

Deep breath. Remember. Keep the promise to them.

She heard footsteps begin to echo through the hall and quickly opened her eyes, her feet quickly taking strides to catch up. She watched the little girl with curious eyes as she skipped over to Dominus and pulled on Dominus' cloak. Her eyes widened, fear rising within her. Why would she do th--

Was Dominus laughing?

She didn't know if that made her relieved or even more scared. Who was she, really? Either way, she kept the pace. She glanced into the other cells as she walked by, her expression that of a trained killer going off to kill.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptySat Jun 27, 2015 11:51 am

Daichi and the others followed, though the little girl was dancing around Dominus lightly. Dominus then stopped and turned back to the others, a sudden wall of Kagune separating them from Dominus and the little girl. Aken rushed forward quickly, his fist punching against the wall and doing nothing to it. The man behind them burst into action with his Kagune out and ready to kill the three of them, but Daichi had him pinned against the wall in a second, his hand beneath the mans ribs, forced into the chest cavity, and grabbed onto something within. The man screamed as Daichi pulled his hand out, the Rinkaku that had nearly killed the three of them each stopped by one of Dominus's Koukaku arms. He then threw the heart into the air, leaving the catch for whoever wanted it most.

"Dominus, what are you planning?" he asked to the wall. Suddenly, it parted and Dominus was gone, the little girl staring into the arena doors counting. Akeno and Daichi ran up to her to see if she were okay, and she pointed into the room while continuing her counting.

"...thirty, thirty-six, forty-two, forty-eight, fifty-four, sixty. There are sixty of them!" she said with a smile. Akeno smirked as he looked at the twelve opponents within, eleven wearing black cloaks, one wearing a grey cloak.

"Looks like Dominus wants to fight us. You're a fool, Daichi-ko. Now we're all condemned to die." Akeno said, and the little girl was humming a song.

Daichi recognized it instantly.

Erika's song.

"Akeno, is she Erika's?" he asked with annoyance, feeling like a fool. They looked so alike.

"Obviously." he replied gruffly. That explains her ranking as an A-Class without the use of a Kagune. Daichi-ko entered to the roar of the crowd, followed by the little girl. Akeno, however, looked as though he didn’t want a part of any of it.

After a couple seconds of hesitation, he entered too. The pit was spotless: cleaned everyday to accommodate the next fight. After-all, what’s the point in painting over a used canvas?

“Ready group?” Daichi asked with vigor, Akeno smacking him on the back and pushing him forward.

”As always.” Annoyed, bored.

“Time to play!” said the little girl, her voice trailing off as she ran into the group. Daichi-ko jumped slightly at the sight, surprised and concerned. He rushed in after, stuttering in confusion. Akeno, rather grumpily, stumbled after slowly.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptySat Jun 27, 2015 11:26 pm

Kie watched the little girl dance around Dominus, not quite sure about how she should feel about her, the captor she had never actually met. She definitely wasn't what she was expecting, that was for certain. She actually didn't seem that bad--

Dominus and the little girl were suddenly separated from the rest by a kagune that took the form of a wall. Kie took a step back, the air becoming tense around her. Akeno rushed forward instantly and punched at it to no avail, trying to get to the girl. He actually looked worried. Kie frowned, her eyebrows low with anger.

What's happening?

Whatever was happening, she knew what it looked like. It looked like Dominus was up to no good and that each of their lives were in danger. It seemed like she was trying to make Akeno panic by separating him from his cell partner.

She knew the panic in that feeling and all the feelings that came afterwards.

The popping sound of a kagune forming came from behind them and she glanced over her shoulder. The man behind them had summoned his kagune and was preparing to kill all three of them. Just as she was about to bring out her koukaku, Daichiko slammed into him and pinned him to the wall, a hand stuck through the man's chest. Muscles in his tanned arm moved as his hand grabbed around for something good inside.

He was done for. Daichiko grabbed his heart and pulled it from his chest with ease. Then, up into the air it went. Her eyes followed it hungrily. Getting well-fed before a death sentence only seems right, eh? She thought to herself as she reached a slender arm into the air and caught the bloody heart in her grasp. Her eyes returned to the kagune wall as she began to devour it, her mouth and surrounding areas stained scarlet. The girl better be alright. Her thoughts were bitter.

"Dominus, what are you planning?" Daichiko asked. Could she hear him?

The wall disappeared as suddenly as it had came, and the hooded woman was gone. ...where? The girl, indeed, was okay and was staring into the arena doors... counting. Akeno and Daichiko ran to her side worriedly, Kie following suit, though keeping behind them. She watched her as she counted.

"...thirty, thirty-six, forty-two, forty-eight, fifty-four, sixty. There are sixty of them!" She said with a grin. Kie looked up in horror, only to find ten... eleven... twelve figures. She couldn't help but scoff at the girl and her own stupidity at forgetting she preferred to count by sixes. Eleven were wearing black cloaks and one was wearing gray. Dominus. She groaned inwardly.

"Looks like Dominus wants to fight us. You're a fool, Daichi-ko. Now we're all condemned to die." Akeno grumbled. Kie couldn't help but give a slight nod in agreement. The little girl was having a fun time, though, humming and seeming not to care that they were about to march to their deaths.

"Akeno, is she Erika's?" Daichiko asked suddenly. It seemed random, but his tone made the subject seem somewhat important.

"Obviously." Akeno replied gruffly. There was no more talk of it, and though she was curious, Kie guessed it wasn't her business and simply eyed them.

Daichiko entered the arena, followed closely by the little girl. Kie fell in behind the little girl as Akeno hesitated, though he ended up coming out just after she did.

The pristine, upkept ring she had bloodied many times. She glanced around at the roaring crowd - it was a big one, today - before looking back at her group.

"Ready group?" Daichiko asked a bit confidently for her liking. However, she wished she had his vigor. Akeno patted him on the back, which in the process pushed Daichi forward.

In a bored, somewhat annoyed tone Akeno replied, "As always."

Kie stepped closer to the front, a little bit ahead of the rest. It was that specific placement that made her feel right. She nodded tensely. Ready to die.

"Time to play!" the little girl said cheerfully as she ran... directly towards the opponents. Deadly opponents.

"Hey!" Kie tried to call, though it came out more of a growl. Everyone rushed after her, including Kie.

This isn't time to play. Battles aren't games. she thought as she ran. She realized that she didn't care for dumb, childish tendencies. However, she couldn't be angry. That had been her mindset once, too, when she first entered the ring to slaughter other children. Kie felt a pang of jealousy towards the girl's "innocence" that had yet to be tainted with realization that this wasn't actually a game they were playing.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyThu Jul 02, 2015 6:57 pm

The little girl dashed underneath a rinkaku Kagune while bouncing over a koukaku Kagune, her speed superb and complex, the movements around the targets attacks intricate and graceful. Daichi-ko, on the other hand, stumbled at the edge of an attack on his toes, hoping not to fall in, as two cut him off, leaving the girl to fight three by herself. He grunted angrily, his hands sliding down slightly as he waited for the attacks that he felt were coming.

Rinkaku from behind, he moved himself in a complete spin and slammed his palm into the bottom of the attack, diverting it upward and away, while elbowing another downward. Akeno, on the other hand, caught the attention of three more, unable to stop the last two from running past and attacking Kie, both having an ukaku Kagune. Akeno grabbed an incoming bikaku Kagune and pulled the owner in, his foot stamping the mans face in, a sickening crunch being heard from it.

"Crusher, Crusher, Crusher!" roared the crowd, a nickname they gave to Akeno for his tendency to crush his opponents. Suddenly, two koukaku limbs come out of nowhere to hit him, his koukaku bursting into action and catching both of them, wrapping on his arms. He had four of them, two going down the back of his legs, two wrapping over his arms. He then swatted his right hand out and the koukaku extended, slamming into the rinkaku owner's rinkaku. Meanwhile, the third one, with the koukaku kagune, attacked with force, but could not break Akeno's defensive movements. Akeno was focusing on both opponents, fighting offensively on one front and defensively on the other.

Meanwhile, Daichi-ko was continuously knocking away Kagune attack after Kagune attack, his mind searching for an opening. One rinkaku and one koukaku, hard combo to fight. He pressed himself to keep on continuing his combat, and then his eyes caught onto a slight opening if he could divert an attack slightly. He moved out of place for a second, only diverting one attack, the other person going for the opening made. Daichi suddenly breaks into a run at the attacker, the rinkaku user, and makes it into his close quarters, the man gasping at the speed.

He tries to back away.

His rinkaku doesn't act fast enough.

FLASH

The cloaked figure split in two, his body cleaved in half as Daichi can be seen putting something away. He turned to Dominus and stuck out his tongue, mocking her. She, however, ignored it. Daichi then turned his attention to his last target, a smile on his bloodied face. He felt alive in the pit, once again.

As he did this, the little girl dealt with her group: one koukaku, one bikaku, and one rinkaku. She dipped in and out of the attacks with easy, her figure now standing in front of one of the people.

"Game over!" she yelled as she charged the man with rinkaku, her speed faster than any of the Kagune could move. She then spun in a circle and her fist collided into the man's stomach, the man's body contorting and going limp as blood spilled out of his mouth, the force of the punch cracking multiple bones in the area of the punch. His breathing was labored, but he was still alive. She turned to the others, a smile innocently plastered onto the child's face.

"Your turn to play."

Over on Kie's end, the two ukaku types dash apart from each-other, barraging her with attacking from two directions as one rushes in to kill her, his left ukaku firing attacks while his right ukaku acting like a blade.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyThu Jul 02, 2015 8:02 pm

The girl did some maneuvers under and over two of their opponents, her speed notable but her confidence nerve-wracking. Kie let out an exasperated sigh as they all skidded to a stop, blocked off from helping her fight off the three that went after her. She hated team battles and the extra responsibilities she gained while participating in them. She hadn't been in one since she was thirteen, but she remembered that she just needed to focus on her own battle and let the others do their own job.

With a single breath, she was in the battle-mode the pit-leaders had shaped for her. She ignored the ache in her stomach. The anxiety. The worry.

Kie side-stepped away from the group, her kakuganic eyes watching as Daichiko engaged two opponents. It'd be a matter of time before she, too, would either have to engage or be engaged. She heard footsteps and quickly turned to the side to see two ukakus racing towards her with great speed. Right on cue.

The crowd began to chant "Crusher, Crusher, Crusher!", though Kie didn't get a chance to see who they were referring to or who they were crushing. She backpedaled away from the advancing ghouls as they dashed apart and began to fire at her from both sides.

"You two aren't that smart, are you?" She murmured. Her feet stopped short and planted themselves firmly on the ground as she ducked down slightly, two large, wide and notably long koukaku emerging from her upper back. They were somewhat ribbon-like in shape, but with more depth and rounded edges. The insides were bright red while the outsides were rough and hard in texture and a dark, dull purple in color. They wrapped around her and flattened out, repelling the ukakus' attacks with ease.

Her pale, ghostly features were made sinister when her red lips contorted into a weak smile, her bloodied cheeks and red eyes carrying the contrasting hue across her face. "Or maybe you just haven't heard about me yet." She said, her voice bored. "Or the fact that ukakus stand no chance against me."

Seconds passed, and it didn't seem that they wanted to stop firing or attacking her koukaku. So, Kie knew what she had to do next. She let out a scoff as two kagune covered in bright red scales shot out from her back. The tendrils were thick, but that didn't seem to hinder them at all as they bent and shot at the ukakus with great speed across the floor as though they were serpents chasing after prey. The ends resembled large scythe blades, except these blades were able to hinge at different angles.

Both kagune shot a little ways past the ukakus, the blades stretched at a wide angle. Then they curved slightly, the blades quickly closing around the legs of the unlucky ghouls with a crack and two thuds as they fell to the ground, they're legs cut from beneath them. The rinkaku quickly retreated back behind their owner as Kie's koukakus thickened in depth and thinned in size, creating two large tube-like shapes. She quickly dashed forwards and slammed her koukakus down upon the two ukaku, which didn't make that pleasing of a sound. They were still alive though. The same couldn't be said once the koukakus came down a second time.

Two down...

Kie's koukakus flattened back out and began to float behind her like weird wings. Her rinkaku swayed back and forth as she eyed the other opponents and her own allies.

How are they doing?

[Kagune info updated.]

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyMon Jul 06, 2015 7:05 pm

Daichi turned his attention to the last of the enemy. The enemies attacks were made with power, and Daichi couldn't help but chuckle as the Koukaku made to crush him, an attempt that was made by many novices. He rushed forward, into the attack that would seemingly kill him, his eyes locked on the opponents masked face; a plain mask looking back at him. The Koukaku were directly to each side of him, and he kicked off the ground, jumping just above the Koukaku as they slam into each-other. The person backs up slightly, a third Koukaku coming out of his back as Daichi kicks forward, running on the Koukaku in front of him, going into a lunge as they parted so that he doesn't lose pace. The last Koukaku was starting to close in, slamming down on him, but he grabbed onto the side of it and pulled himself from under, and then over as it slammed into the ground. Without a second to waste he ran it and then wrapped his leg around it as he stepped off and rotated down, his face inches from his opponents, a hand on each shoulder.

"Hello!" Daichi said, his leg unwrapping as the Koukaku finally finished raising again, pulling himself into the man and then letting go with one hand, spinning around and landing behind the man, just to the right of him, his back to his.

Daichi's open hand grabs his chin, the man doing everything he can to push against what he expected to be a neck break.

A horrible crunching sound as Daichi's fingers slip into his mouth.

A gurgled scream as blood flowed from the man without a jaw.

Daichi then spun the man around and slammed the jaw into the roof of the man's mouth, the head twisting back and cracking at a very disturbing angle.

Akeno had managed to pin the Rinkaku user to the wall just as his kagune broke from the stress of the Rinkaku's attacks. Akeno grabbed the man's head with his hand and started to punch it into the wall, the resulting power from these punches leaving a distinct mark in the wall. Dominus looked up, one kakugan staring out from her mask, the other eye covered by the mask. The shape of the mask was simple in design, a plain white mask with an eye shaped to depict sadness. The mask also seemed to have the top right of it separated from the rest of it, held on by elastic, and was pitch black. The bottom right of the mask looked as though it were compressed to her face. Four red Koukaku slowly slithered out from her, and then they split and branched. After a second delay, one of the branches shot toward Akeno, stabbing into his hand and wrapping around his arm, pulling him off of the man on the wall. The last one that was fighting with Akeno rushed in to fight him, only to be grabbed by Akeno's free hand, his head being crushed from the force applied. Akeno then started to pull on Dominus's Kagune, it breaking with ease.

Daichi raised an eyebrow.

That was too easy...

Meanwhile, the little girl had jumped onto the koukaku that attacked her and ran the distance in a short couple of seconds, the koukaku rushing up and flinging her into the air. She laughed playfully as the man's koukaku positioned above her, thrusting down and pushing her to the ground. Akeno made to move, but it was too late, a massive thud as the ground where she was slammed into exploded from the force. Daichi looked concerned, angry. He didn't want the child to die, and it showed in his actions as he screamed out and ran forward.

"You're fun!" yelled the childish voice, and Daichi stopped. A sigh of relief coming from somewhere that Daichi didn't care for much. The child was standing under the koukaku that attacked her, both hands up and holding the koukaku up, the ground beneath her destroyed. Her hands then crushed the koukaku and destroyed that segment as she charged the man. He backed away, his fist ready to punch. Within the time it took him to get ready, she had already made it, spinning on one foot and kicking off the ground a couple feet before reaching him, her body spinning into a crescent kick, the blow directly to his jaw. A sickening crunch as it breaks and he drops to the ground unconscious. The moment she lands, she does a back-flip over the incoming Bikaku, landing and rushing into the last one. He puts his fists up, ready to fight. She doesn't spare him any time to think and kicks straight forward, dropping him to her level as his hands cover his now in pain groin. His bikaku goes to wrap around her, but she was faster, an uppercut followed by a jab to the throat. He started choking, and she finished it with a punch to the stomach, causing him to lean over, and a knee to the face. He fell, too, unconscious.

Dominus watched, and then bowed her head slightly to the little girl. She turned to the rest of them, watching with curiosity at what they would do.

Suddenly, one of her branched Koukaku shot out and branched out all around the girl. Shocked, she jumped away and tried to escaped, but there were so many that she backed straight into one, stopping and trying to change direction. The moment she hit one, it branched out and wrapped around her, the rest of the that Koukaku wrapping around the girl and contracting back into place, cocooning the girl. Dominus tilted her head as the cocoon fit around the girl like bandages would a mummy.

Daichi stood in horror, Akeno watched in awe. Her kagune was more than they expected, and Daichi muttered under his breath.

"...foul woman." he  finished, presumably ready to fight.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyMon Jul 06, 2015 10:10 pm

Kie watched as the rest of her group finished off the opposition, her kagune swaying as her eyes darted around. She was ready to run to someone's aid as soon as something went sour, though to some it might have appeared she was being lazy.

Daichi had definitely surpassed his original F ranking. He demonstrated great strength and agility that made Kie both surprised and envious. She had never been a fan of the melee, nor jumping around in battle. With her double kagune, she enjoyed ending the match as quick as possible in order to get out of the pit as soon as she could. It saved her from the... stomach ache. Nonetheless, she had always enjoyed watching people with such athletic talents. Grace was a beautiful thing.

What he did to that guy's head, however, was not beautiful. Kie averted her eyes towards Akeno, who had a Rinkaku against the wall.

Akeno's strength was so great that his punches left dents in the wall. Sudden red movement came from Dominus and Kie was suddenly tense. How could she had forgotten their biggest threat?

A koukaku pierced straight through Akeno's hand, but the big guy still managed to crush the head of the last minion with his other hand before breaking off the Dominus' kagune. Nice...

All right... the girl... where's the girl...?

Kie's eyes landed on the girl, whose fighting ability was also proving to be impressive. For someone of her size who didn't use kagune, things were going pretty well for- THUD A moment of hesitation, realization.

Her eyes became wide. No... no... Kie's gaze fell to her bare feet, her heart suddenly beating quickly within her chest. She clutched at it with her hand, her fingers unable to grab anything but the fabric of her white shirt. Her kagune drooped.

She's dead she was just a kid

She was just a kid.

She was raised in the pits -- born into slavery through her fair-haired mother and the father she never got to meet and never was going to be able to. At seven years old she was torn from her only parent and thrown into training. Kagune. Fighting. Killing. She was special. She had two kagune. The rinkaku of her mother, the koukaku of her father. The extra training made her a late bloomer, so to say. It was at the age of ten that she was finally thrusted into battle. The other children stood no chance against her defense. The other children stood no chance against her offense. She had so much blood on her hands. It was a game. Winner, winner, winner. Applause, applause, praise.

Aimi, ten years old. Black hair, black eyes. Her first cellmate. They talked forever. They talked about the games they one. Compared their numbers. Their strengths. They knew no better. It was all fun and games. They were both brainwashed children who grinned at blood and guts and longed for the next battle and the meat of the child they killed and were fed. Smiles and laughs. "Innocence" and idiocy. She with the silvery hair had taken everything for granted. Aimi was a strong child with a powerful ukaku, considered skilled beyond her age-group. One day she was invited to watch a battle. Aimi fought against an adult obviously more powerful than she. She with the red-stained lips watched her get slaughtered. She wondered to herself with wide eyes, was this a game? Did she just lose her friend to this game? Why? Why did the adult cheat?

She with the internal infliction was twelve. Graceful, angelic Yoko, thirteen years old. Small for her age, dark hair, green eyes and an overall appearance that reminded her far too much of the small girl that fought with her. With her arrival came a new mindset. Yoko was not raised within the pits. She was taken from the streets. Yoko told her of the outside world and told her of all the monstrosities that were being committed out in the pit. That in the world outside, things were so much better. She who was raised within the monstrosity was confused. She was a monster? Yoko said that she hadn't known any better. That it wasn't too late to change. That she wasn't a monster. Relief. Guilt. Aimi hadn't learned it before her demise, but there was so much more to life than bloodshed. Yoko had many passions that she introduced to the silvery-haired girl. Counting. Letters. Drawing. Singing. Dancing. The ghostly child had the time of her life. Her new life that felt lighter. She knew killing wasn't a game any longer. She was reluctant to go to her next battle. She made sure the child she fought didn't suffer. Yoko was happy with her. She was happy with Yoko. Sadness was cured with jokes and happiness fed with laughter rather than flesh.

"We will stay friends together, Kie. You need to keep on fighting. I will too. Someday, we'll get out of here. You'll see!"

Two years passed. They weren't aware of how things worked. They were told they were to fight each other. Horror. Grief. Crushed plans and a friendship doomed from the start.

"Don't take it easy on me, Kie. I won't go easy on you. Let our last battle be a good one. An enjoyable one. Don't make it too easy for me."

The beast fought the angel. The angel had tricked the monstrosity and dove right beneath the crusher that was her koukaku and right into her death. An easy, unfair win in the unfair world below the earth. The evil in the world always drown out the good. The beast had lost the person who meant the world to her. The angel's final words, found etched into a brick on the wall: "You need to live to see the future, Kie. I want you to be the one to escape this place."

Kie cried. Kie's eyes changed. They weren't joyous. They were sad, tired, droopy. She seemingly lost the ability to smile. To laugh. To... talk. She killed with intensity and no mercy. She killed for Yoko and for Aimi. The unfairness that brought their deaths in this damp, dark world that wasn't made for kids like them. She would fight and survive to carry on their memories and beliefs. One day, she hoped, she would find a way to be released from the torturous world.

Age fourteen. Habiki, age nineteen. Brown hair, the bluest eyes. Taken from his house. They shared few words at first. She wasn't sure how boys worked and was somewhat nervous to find out. Hormones created feelings she had never asked for. However, he only looked at her and saw a sister figure. Nonetheless, the bond of friendship was made. She talked with him about his experiences, his wishes, his "hobbies." Sometimes she would smile.

No more bonds. No more bonds. He fought back. No match, no match. Kill or be killed. Too powerful for her own good. Winner, winner. Applause, applause. She scratched out Yoko's message.

It was hopeless. She would be a killing machine forever. What was the point of going without her friends? The message served no purpose but to fill her with false hope. Sixteen and spending her waking hours on the floor. Plugging her ears to avoid friendly conversation. Muting herself. Watching the blood spill behind her eyelids. Dreaming of the dead. Nightmares. Wondering when her last battle would come. When her next cellmate would come. What she would do.

She'd ignore them completely.

It would be as easy as pie.

The ring and the crowd didn't feel the same.

"You're fun!"

Kie's red and black eyes snapped back into focus and shot up towards the sound of the voice. Yo--... the girl. Alive. Holding the koukaku up with her small yet powerful hands. Her mouth opened in an emotion that sat somewhere between awe, relief, and the melancholy that quickly exited through her scarlet lips.

Great, her composure was ruined...

Pathetic, pathetic. Look how many mistakes you're making. A sharp breath to stifle a sob, a deep breath to calm her heart.

She didn't care. She raised one of her arms and let out a small cheer, which in turn made the crowd go wild as the child beat the grown man unconscious. Her facial expression quickly became neutral again as her heart began to slow. She's alright...

I won't let anyone die today. Innocent blood wouldn't be shed.

It almost felt like she had a second chance.

In an instant she was side-by-side with the others, facing Dominus. This would be the final battle. The hooded woman bowed her head to the little girl before turning to them. Then, with impossible speed, a koukaku shot from her back and branched out around the all-too-suddenly fearful child. Kie's rinkaku instantly began to lengthen and writhe, her face full of anger. "Hey!"

One hit and the girl was enveloped in what resembled a bright red cocoon. As Dominus tilted her head, the cocoon compressed into the shape of the child.

The other two were staring.

This was the woman that ran this hell-hole. The one that enslaved her parents. Enslaved her. Enslaved her friends. This was the woman that ushered them all to their deaths. The one that had been trying to get her killed since she was ten years old.

Kie was ready to kill.

"...you..." Kie's koukaku slowly flattened out and wrapped around her as she growled the word. She dashed forward, two more rinkaku sprouting from her back. All four of them spread out around her and shot towards Dominus at different angles, two aimed to sever some of her koukaku while the other two aimed to stab her body.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyMon Jul 06, 2015 11:41 pm

Daichi ran forward, his thoughts and actions sporadic. Akeno followed closely behind in a hulking manner, and suddenly two more of the branched koukaku sprouted, attacking both of them. Dominus's eye darted around quickly as one of her koukaku stopped all four of the rinkaku, wrapping around it tearing them to the side. Daichi started to use hand-to-hand combat against the kagune, but was quickly overwhelmed, an annoyed look now on his face as there was another flash of bright yellow light. Dominus's eyes snapped to him quickly, trying to glimpse what it was, before darting to the others. Akeno was too big and bulky to dodge out of the way, and he was quickly engulfed by her kagune. There was more fight as his kagune broke out and started pushing against it, but he too was eventually cocooned. Daichi was darting away, trying to find the distance in which Dominus can reach.

Thump.

He felt the wall behind him as his back touched it, and he swore under his breath.

One second he was there, the next he was speeding across the floor like a spider, four spun kagune out of his shoulders, ukaku. They looked like solid Amethyst, a smirk on his mouth as he rushed forward on the spider-like legs. She was quick to react, about twenty more branches coming from her koukaku that was dealing with Kie, all of them spread out around Kie and stabbing into the ground, aiming to pin her in more than capture her.

Though, if she did get caught, all the better.

Daichi was now in front of Dominus, the koukaku that he was dealing with now one flat kagune, and it was creating a zig-zag shaped wall in front of him. Suspended in the air he released a flurry of attacks, all of them creating thuds on the hard armor. Suddenly, his kagune reverted to a non-crystalline form as a flash of yellow broke the air again, Dominus's kagune split and an opening made. She took a step back.

That's the first time, ever. she thought, her fists in a position to fight. He started to make swings at her, but she moved out of them with expertise and fluidity. Daichi punched for her shoulder, causing her to dodge to the side, and he quickly moved his foot to trip her, but she used her kagune, which had impaled into the ground, to pull her back into place. He grunted as his kagune formed a purple blade, stabbing right for her. She knocked it away and landed a well placed palm strike to his chest, knocking him backward. He stumbled backward before running back in, with an uppercut, and attacked with two of his spider-like legs that he created again. She dodged the uppercut and knocked one of the appendages away with the back of her hand, grabbing the other one and crushing it.

Until it regenerated and wrapped around her hand. She let out a gasp, surprised.

"Now, let's see what's behind the mask." he said, pulling her hood back. Long brown hair flowed from her head as her entire cloak came off, her having unbuttoned it, and she pulled her hand free from the ukaku following with two palm strikes: One was placed on his stomach and the other on chest. She then kicked him flat in the chest and sent him across the room for about thirty feet. She was wearing baggy black pants, and at the bottom of them was a white bandage that wrapped the pants to her leg, and covered her entire feet, which lacked shoes. She was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt that tucked into her pants and was a bit tighter to the skin. Her hands were wrapped in bandages too, covering halfway up the forearm. Her neck was covered by a combination of the shirt she was wearing, and the mask.

Daichi sniffed the air, a familiar scent, a tasty scent.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyTue Jul 07, 2015 12:26 am

Kie heard the sound of the others rushing in behind her, but kept her eyes on Dominus. She had to hit her, she had to. She wanted to. So very, very badly. She--

Her breath stopped short when all four of her rinkaku struck an extra hard koukaku. She was caught completely off guard when she felt the tendrils wrap around them and begin to tear. Eyes squeezed shut, she cried out in pain, the pain worse than almost anything she had ever felt in her life. A sort of suction-y sound was heard, along with the sounds of Akeno's struggle. Was he just...? Come on...! She thought, her legs shaking beneath her.

There was something within her that made her very reluctant to touch the koukaku, for she saw what happened to the girl and knew that Akeno likely met the same fate. She had to escape the pain though. Soon. Teeth bared, she looked around. Her koukaku were free. What could she do? Would that too cause her to be sucked in?

It was evident that Daichiko was fighting and fighting hard. She saw flashes, heard clashes, and heard bodies hit the ground. She was surprised when she heard "Now, let's see what's behind the mask." He got that close to her?

What was his new rank, exactly?

A deep breath entered Kie's lungs when she felt that Dominus' grip loosened just slightly on her rinkaku. "Bitch..." She muttered, opening her strained eyes to see that she was surrounded in koukaku. She was trapped. Her head fell to the side to rest on one of her shoulders as her eyes scanned the "unmasked" Dominus that still wore a mask. However, the cloak was off and some of her features were visible. She took them in before closing her eyes against a wave of pain.

Could Daichiko do this himself?

She wanted more than anything to help him destroy her. At that moment, however, she was unable to do much of anything without getting more handicapped.

Please...

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyTue Jul 07, 2015 5:07 pm

Dominus shot forward into combat, different mixes of martial arts in her combat that overwhelmed Daichi, his face showing a conflict of despair and loss. He pulled out a small object that appeared to have a chain to it, Dominus gasping at the object now that she could finally figure it out. She moved out of the way as a flash of yellow light shot at her face, splitting the mask in half and breaking it. Quickly she hid her face. Daichi took this as an opening and prepared to attack.

"END!" she yelled, and Daichi froze, the object in his hand now visible.

A Quinque.

She raised a hand and waved it down, a signal to lower the curtains. The crowd booed, angry at the abrupt ending. They wanted to see more, they wanted to finally see Dominus's face. Daichi was pale, and the moment the metal curtains fell, Dominus turned away and started to walk away, her face hidden from the group, the koukaku branches unraveling and carrying Akeno and the girl with her. Both of them were unconscious, sleeping. The rest of her kagune vanished, freeing Kie.

"Follow." she said, Daichi snapping back into life. Daichi hid his Quinque and listened.

He recognized the smell now that he focused on it, it was definitely Erika.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyTue Jul 07, 2015 6:25 pm

There was the sound of martial combat as Kie waited for an outcome. A sudden gasp caught her off guard and she squinted through the koukaku to try and see what was going on. A flash of yellow, the crumbling of Dominus' mask. Kie gasped too.

Would she see her face?

No. A quick movement and the face was hidden. "END!" The monster shouted. Daichiko paused, some weird object in his hand. Kie would have spent more time examining it if it hadn't been the anger that suddenly filled her.

What? Dominus could end the battle just because her petty mask broke?

The crowd booed as the curtains dropped, shutting them off from their sick sense of entertainment. Boo hoo. Dominus turned and began to walk, each step filling Kie with urgency. Her eyes were glued to Dominus' figure, her eyebrows lowered in rage. Why wouldn't she finish the battle? Why wouldn't she kill or be killed? Follow the rules of the pit? Like receding roots, the koukaku that had trapped Akeno and the girl unraveled and the koukaku that had pinned Kie down retracted and shriveled away. The two that had been cocooned were unscathed. That was good, at least.

The relief that flooded through her body brought her to her knees, her rinkaku regenerating quickly. She took in quick, deep breaths as she pushed herself back up.

"Follow."

Not so fast.

Kie would kill this woman for the hell that she put her and countless others through. She wasn't ready to put everything behind her just because Dominus was afraid of fighting unmasked. Because she thought giving them a victory - if that was what it was - would make everything okay.

Dominus had her back to her. The overseer of her sad excuse of a life was right there. One would have to be an idiot to not take advantage of the opportunity granted by the weakened nemesis with their back turned. Or, maybe... one would have to be an idiot to try. As silently as a ghost Kie dashed forward, her rinkaku spreading apart and stretching out at remarkable speeds toward Dominus. "FINISH THE FIGHT!" She cried, her tone wavering. It's what they all had to do "LET ME SEE THE FACE OF MY CAPTOR!"

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyWed Jul 08, 2015 4:56 pm

Daichi saw it first, but his mind hadn't reacted fast enough to retaliate. Erika turned around, saw the incoming Rinkaku, and threw Akeno across the room, both of her Koukaku wrapping around the little girl to protect her. She held up her arms as she was hit by all but one, one of them lodged in her chest, another piercing through her arm and into her shoulder, another skidded her throat, and the last caught in her hand. Erika laughed as two more Koukaku quickly found their way wrapping around the Rinkaku. She quickly bit into the Rinkaku that she grabbed with her hand, eating it. She wanted to fight? Okay.

"Stay out of this, Da~i~chi~. We've fought together for years! You know I won't kill her." she looked up, blood dripping down her face from out of her mouth, a smile. Her face had light features, a childish nature about her eyes, something that she shared with her daughter.

Her koukaku unraveled from around the little girl and lightly placed her down, giving her more room for combat. Suddenly, each Koukaku wrapped around one of her Rinkaku, slowly pulling them to the side, carefully pulling them so they wouldn't tear out of her skin. The Koukaku continue to wrap around the Rinkaku and down the length of it

"You want to finish the fight?! Okay, let's see what you can do against me, little girl!" she yelled, her koukaku suddenly ripping outward and tearing at the Rinkaku, Erika rushing forward at an abnormal speed.

Daichi, however, was concerned. He had never seen Erika fight by herself. What happened?

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyWed Jul 08, 2015 5:50 pm

Akeno flew across the room.

Sorry.

Focus.

One puncture, two puncture, a slice. A sadistic smile crept across Kie's face at the feeling. Each hit felt like an accomplishment, a wound that would lead to a kill she'd actually enjoy. A small chuckle escaped her throat. The fourth had been caught in Dominus' hand, but she thought nothing of it. However, the acknowledgement of pain she had been waiting for had been replaced by a laugh. A laugh from the mouth she had still failed to catch a glimpse of. Only then did Kie's smile falter. Koukaku wrapped around her koukaku and the wench bit into the captured rinkaku.

Kie winced as the pain rode her nerves. She had to get out of the woman's hold quick.

"Stay out of this, Da~i~chi~. We've fought together for years! You know I won't kill her."

What? Her head turned, her black and red eyes landing on Daichiko with a look of confusion and some other unidentifiable emotion. "You--?" Her head quickly turned back, remembering how dangerous of a position she was in. Now she could see the woman's face, dripping crimson, smiling. There was something about her face that looked all-too-familiar. Kie glowered at her and attempted to shake the rinkaku out of her opposition's grip.

Anger turned to fear when the koukaku that had been busy holding the girl wrapped around her rinkaku and began to pull. Wrapping, wrapping, pulling, pulling. Kie let out a troubled roar, her koukaku beginning to ripple. "You want to finish the fight?! Okay, let's see what you can do against me, little girl!"

Pain. So much pain. She was hearing a scream that could only belong to her. A pitiful one.

She wasn't weak, was she?

No one stood a chance against her, right?

She didn't feel like a champion with tears falling down her cheeks.

STOP STOP STOP Her body was trying to flee, but she was nearly falling to her knees and her hands could do nothing. Kagune-- she didn't have hold of her koukaku. The blades unsnapped. Kie's scream became tighter as she tried to make her koukaku constrict into clubs.

Dominus was coming at her. Time was running short.

She couldn't concentrate enough through the pain to do it, so she just tried swinging the flattened form down at her. Meanwhile, she snapped the blades within Dominus closed, which would surely inflict damage on their way to the trunk of the rinkaku.

Right?

Or had she entered a battle she was hardly ready for?

She just wanted the pain to stop. It was worse than last time. More intense. They were ripping, tearing.   Her scream was becoming more internal than external as her senses became blinded.

Please work. Please stop.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyWed Jul 08, 2015 6:40 pm

Daichi closed his eyes, looked away, and blocked out everything. This was too much, this wasn't Erika like he remembered. This was a distorted, twisted version of her.

Erika felt something awry with the Rinkaku that were still lodged in her body, and she felt them move swiftly, powerfully. Her eyes lit with joy as she grabbed the Rinkaku blade hinges with a couple of her Koukaku, pulling them quickly and causing pain to sear through her body, but the blades fell just short of major damage, slicing only an inch deep instead of all the way through. Her Koukaku gave a massive tug and ripped the Rinkaku from Kie's body along with pulling Erika off the ground and into a kick to her chest, the amount of energy enough to shatter bones, rupture the insides, and fling her across the room. Erika falls into place, eating at the remains of the Rinkaku while grabbing one of Kie's Koukaku out of the air, rooting three of her own Koukaku into the ground and one of her Koukaku around Kie's. Kie would find herself stopping just short of the wall as Erika flung her in the other direction at a greater velocity.

"Maybe I should just tear out your entire Kagune, yes?" she continued, a light tinge of seriousness now lacing her playful voice. She suddenly whipped Kie midair, Kie flinging toward Erika, and punched her fist straight through Kie's stomach. The force knocked Erika back and off her feet, but she hovered in mid-air as her Koukaku took most of the force and held her. She was now leaning back, her body hanging in mid-air holding Kie.

"Next time you want to pick a fight, make sure you can kill me." Erika said loudly, her mouth at Kie's shoulder, her breath heavy with excitement as she bit deep into the muscle, tearing the flesh and eating it. Ecstasy, euphoria, it was incomparable to anything else.

"If not for yourself, then for everybody else." she whispered into her ear, her voice sounding strained. Her Koukaku put them upright as Erika pulled her hand out of Kie's stomach. Akeno started to come to, his head aching and his thoughts broken. He looked over at the scene, pushed himself up, and his Koukaku started to slide out.

"Bastard." he said, attacking. Erika looked over, and his Koukaku stopped just inches from her throat, her hand holding onto it.

"Akeno, old friend. I won't go easy on you like I did with her." she said, and Akeno's eyes widened as he recognized who it was, his Koukaku retracting as he looked at Kie. Erika went over and picked up her child.

"Do you still want to fight me?" she asked.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyWed Jul 08, 2015 7:30 pm

There was a sudden grip around the hinges of her rinkaku and Kie let out a gasp. How? Howhowhow? Panic faded into dread as she glimpsed a joyous, sadistic look in Dominus' eyes.

A blood curdling scream as Kie's Rinkaku were torn from her body. Her eyes and mouth were open wide, her face contorting in pain. She could barely process what was going on anymore as a heavy, sudden pressure pounded into her chest -- was she just kicked? -- and she was flying backwards at a great speed that left everything in a blur. It took a second or two before the noises of distress that had been coming from her throat stopped due to the immense pain that filled her and the lack of air she was receiving. No noise would come out. Was her lung punctured? Her insides were on fire. What had she done to her?

A tug on her koukaku and she was flying in the other direction at an even greater speed, her neck whipping back as she flew. Her body became a ragdoll, her facial expression resembling that of someone who was falling asleep.

Everything was dreamlike. Her body was growing numb, her consciousness fading. However, she just couldn't pass out. She wished more than anything that she would. "Maybe I should just tear out your entire Kagune, yes?"

The voice terrified Kie so very, very much. She tried to speak -- to protest -- but nothing came out. P-PLEASE! She had changed directions once more. She was flying straight towards Dominus. In the blink of an eye there was a fist sticking through her stomach. Kie's eyes widened, her mouth forming into an O as a pitiful sound inched its way out of her. She couldn't respond in any other way. Enough... enough...

"Next time you want to pick a fight, make sure you can kill me." The voice was nearby. Where? She wanted to get away. Please, please. Tears streamed down her pale cheeks as the monster bit into her shoulder, tearing it apart, feeding on her victim. "If not for yourself, then for everybody else."

She was choking. She was on the ground in a puddle of her own blood and tears. How close was she to death? Would she even care if she died?

She had to care, for if she died the others would be in trouble.

Death sounded sweet at the moment, though. With the way things were feeling, it was coming for her.

"Bastard."

"Akeno, old friend. I won't go easy on you like I did with her."

"Do you still want to fight me?"

Kie was already unconscious.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyWed Jul 08, 2015 8:16 pm

A rustling sound as something lifted Kie into the air, a comforting feel flying her through the air.

". . . why are you doing this, Erika?! How long have you been hiding behind the mask of Dominus?" the raised voice broke through Kie's unconsciousness.

"Since I turned sixteen. Why do you think we never fought against each-other?"

"Why didn't you put an end to this place?!" Daichi yelled, but the rest would be blocked out by pain and the inability to function. After an unknown amount of time, voices could be heard again.

"Names? You give me names? Listen, you know I can't do this."

"You need to end this, destroy the pit. I can't do it, I tried, but. . ." the voices faded out again.

Then, a voice that was too close, too necessary not to hear.

"Become strong, end this."

"End me."

Silence.

Movement.

Shuffling.

"Kie, wake-up. You're in a safe-place now."

A three story building, they were at the top. Human smells everywhere, the little girl rocking on her chair in excitement at the sunlight beaming in: she had never seen it before. Akeno was staring out of a window and examining the outside world through it.

"This is my little home." he said jokingly, "It took me a couple of years to afford it."

He held out a cup of coffee for her, it looked to be fresh.

"You've been sleeping for two days, but thanks to something devised by Erika your wounds healed up quickly. I... Your Kakuhou was torn from your body, so you won't be able to use your Rinkaku just yet, but I do have some experience with making Quinque, so I tried something out... Two of your Rinkaku kakuhou have been placed back in your body, and..."

He was silent.

"I... couldn't find the other two." he continued, stretching, cracking his neck. Suddenly, a weight dropped on Kie's body as something curled around her.

"Wake up wake up! You need to see! Outside, outside!"

The little girl was hugging onto her, attention being brought to Kie's clean clothing and the lack of blood.

"Oh, her name is Mikiko, by the way."

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyWed Jul 08, 2015 10:26 pm

Flight?

Darkness.

Voices...

". . . why are you doing this, Erika?! How long have you been hiding behind the mask of Dominus?"

"Since I turned sixteen. Why do you think we never fought against each-other?"

"Why didn't you put an end to this place?!"

Ugh...

"Names? You give me names? Listen, you know I can't do this."

"You need to end this, destroy the pit. I can't do it, I tried, but. . ."

A groan.

"Become strong, end this."

"End me."

What?

What is that... human... stench?

"Kie, wake up. You're in a safe place now."

"I... I died?" She asked in a whisper, her voice cracking in the process. No, probably not. She didn't see the bright lights Yoko talked about nor did she see her friends. Maybe this was hell?

No, that was Daichiko. How'd he learn my name?

Where...?

Her eyes opened slowly. The urge to stretch was so strong that she couldn't resist it. And oh, didn't it feel good... She sighed.

Wait.

She remembered everything that had happened and flinched. She probably just set herself up for a world of pain...

But... There was no pain...? Her arms shot to her stomach, her shoulder... nothing. There was, however, something covering her arms.

She was oddly comfortable. Her body rested on something soft and was covered with something warm and dry. It was a sensation she had never felt, but she liked it a lot.

Her eyes fluttered down and she found herself laying on what she guessed would be a bed, covered in a blanket. She stared in disbelief, her mouth opening slightly. She pushed herself up slightly and found herself resting against the bed frame. Was she...?

"W-where?" Her eyes were wide.

"This is my little home. It took me a couple of years to afford it." Daichiko said, holding some weird thing out to her. It was filled with some black liquid that smoked. Though it sort of looked weird, it smelled sort of good.

"What's this...?" She asked, uncertain hands -- which looked even paler than usual in the new lighting -- reaching for it. She grabbed it by the handle with one hand and the side with the other. The hand that touched the hot side quickly let go, though, with the accompanying sound of a wince. She drank this stuff, right?

She held it to her lips and took a gulp of which she quickly swallowed, struggling with the unexpected hotness. As she lowered the stuff from her face, somewhat afraid to take another drink, she took the time to look around. There were weird holes in the wall with bright, new-looking light streaming through. Akeno was looking out one, into the world of blue and white and tall metal towers. The girl was sitting in a chair, full of excitement. Realization hit her slowly, and shock set in. Her kakuganic eyes landed back on Daichiko, wide and full of wonder and surprise, a large smile forming on her face as he began talking.

"You've been sleeping for two days, but thanks to something devised by Erika," -- that name again... she had heard it when she passed out. Where had she missed meeting her? -- "your wounds healed up quickly. I... Your Kakuhou was torn from your body, so you won't be able to use your Rinkaku just yet, but I do have some experience with making Quinque, so I tried something out... Two of your Rinkaku kakuhou have been placed back in your body, and..." Kie's smile grew wider, many feelings welling in her stomach. His pause added nervousness to the mix. She raised an eyebrow.

"I... couldn't find the other two." He finished as he stretched.

To be perfectly honest, she could care less about those other two rinkaku. "Two is better than none." She said, her voice happier than it had been for a long, long time. She could get them back someday. Right now, she was free. Out of the pits. Living the dream she had since she was twelve years old. She was free, like Yoko and Habiki were and how they wanted her to be. Her eyes were beginning to tear up, though her smile was still wide. I made it, I made it! ... but I wish you guys had made it too...

Suddenly, weight dropped upon her and curled around her body. Her eyes shot down, oddly unphased by the sudden attack. It was only the little girl, after all, giving her a hug. "Wake up wake up! You need to see! Outside, outside!"

"Outside..." Kie repeated before biting her lip, trying to hold back sobs. Her eyes stung as she wrapper her own arms around Yoko the girl. "We're outside!" She felt like a child but she didn't care. Her life had taken such a drastic turn in a day -- or, well, three days.

Freedomfreedomfreedomfreedomfreedomfreedom

"Oh, her name is Mikiko, by the way." Daichiko piped.

Kie gave a nod. "My name is Kie, though somewhere along the lines you found that out yourself..." She murmured, her eyes drifting back to her savior. She cleared her throat.

"Daichiko- thank you so much! You have no idea how thankful I am... Without you I'd still be in there..." She whispered, her eyes threatening to overflow. "...and I'm sorry I flipped out back in the pit... and... almost..." She trailed off, her gaze returning to the windows shyly as she realized she was talking too much.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyThu Jul 09, 2015 8:57 pm

Daichi watched as everything happened, a smile on his face at the happy atmosphere. He was about to get up to leave them be when he heard his name again, his ears twitching lightly at the sound of it. With a light laugh he kind of mumbled awkwardly, "No problem."

He then looked Kie in the eyes and his smile faltered slightly. She wouldn't be able to go into public with those eyes, she had to control them. They all needed to learn to control their eyes, their mind, their body.

"Nobody can leave just yet, you're in a more dangerous world than you can imagine." Daichi said, walking out and down the stairs, coming back up just as quickly, the smell of human riddling the air more. Akeno glanced over, his eyes in a Kakuganic state. The little girl too looked over with her kakugan. Daichi held the meat up, a pile of it on the plate.

"Nobody here can have a bite unless they can control their eyes." he said, and Mikiko instantly jumped for the food, her hand grabbing an empty plate, the meat in Daichi's other hand, held high in the air. Mikiko frowned, then closed her eyes.

Upon opening them, they were back to normal.

"Good."

Daichi handed her a piece from the pile. He then turned to Akeno, who grunted and tried to no avail.

"If you're going to live with humans, you have to learn how to hide among them. Your eyes will give you away in an instant." he continued. "After this, I'll also teach you how to eat human food, and how to hunt... If you're going to hunt, we'll need to get you masks."

His thoughts trailed, realization of how much work he has to do finally setting in. He sighed, and Mikiko started sniffing the air, her face confused.

"Also, try to not bring too much attention to yourself. I'll explain a lot more in-depth once you each can control your eyes and eat like a human... Okay?"

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyThu Jul 09, 2015 9:45 pm

There was a light laugh before Daichiko gave his response. "No problem." His tone made her facepalm internally. Patiently she waited for the tears to dry as Mikiko hung off of her. She wanted to feel the sun and look around at the human world. She was as ready as she ever was. She just wanted to wait until somebody else made the first move.

"Nobody can leave just yet, you're in a more dangerous world than you can imagine."

What? She looked back to Daichiko just to catch him going down some stairs. They were much different than the ones back at the pit. Nicer. Then he came back up, and all-too-suddenly her mouth was watering. Human. It was on the plate he carried. "Nobody here can have a bite unless they can control their eyes."

"Control... eyes?" She repeated, confusion evident in her words. Her face had taken on it's stoic look once more as she tried to figure out what he meant.

Mikiko jumped off of her, trying to grab at the meat. Daichiko quickly held it out of her reach, however, which earned a frown from the child. Kie watched the girl carefully. Her eyes were black and red, which wasn't how they usually looked. Then, she closed them. Upon opening them, they were back to their original green shade.

"Good."

Kie had seen it happen to ghouls' eyes many times at the pit, especially with those who had been taken from the human world. She had sort of figured that her eyes already did that automatically or that it was something only the kidnapped could do. Her eyebrows lowered slightly as she grew nervous. She wanted that meat, but she was uncertain about how to complete the task that would win her it.

There was a grunt from Akeno, whose eyes were still black and red. "If you're going to live with humans, you have to learn how to hide among them. Your eyes will give you away in an instant. After this, I'll also teach you how to eat human food, and how to hunt... If you're going to hunt, we'll need to get you masks." Daichiko said. Everything sounded so complicated and he suddenly appeared overwhelmed. He sighed.

"...Okay...?" She said uncertainly, her voice inaudible.

"Also, try to not bring too much attention to yourself. I'll explain a lot more in-depth once you each can control your eyes and eat like a human... Okay?" He was looking at Mikiko, who was sniffing the air. That would attract attention?

"Okay." Kie sighed. She followed Mikiko's lead and blinked, focusing on the transition. She glanced around at them all. Then, "Did it work?"

(It didn't.)

I'm doomed.

Kie's Awakening Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kie's Awakening   Kie's Awakening EmptyFri Jul 10, 2015 7:13 pm

"No... It didn't work. Keep trying, though, or you won't be able to go in public..." he said, his mind trying to figure out ways around this problematic situation. Then he thought of it, how he used to hide it years ago. However, that would be a last chance situation. For now, he'll just try to get it to naturally go away. Akeno seemed to be struggling, and then they stopped. He looked as though he were still focusing before a piece of meat smacked him in the side of the head, his eyes breaking back into Kakugan.

"Good, but work on sustaining it." Daichi said, smiling happily, poking Mikiko in the head, her sniffing stopping as she looked up.

"And you need to stop sniffing the air. That will attract attention." he said in a caring, light voice. He then looked over to Kie.

"Akeno knows me pretty well, and Mikiko follows Akeno due to Erika entrusting her into his care."

His voice became quieter as he covered his mouth from Akeno.

"He's pretty bad at being a caretaker, though."

"I heard that, Daichi. Maybe if you had come sooner, Erika would have entrusted her to you." Akeno said in a mumbled, somewhat angry, attitude.

"Hey, can't help it. Anyway, I guess you must have a lot of questions... I am free to answer them right now, if you want."
